The IEEE-RAS Technical Committee (TC) on Robot Control invites nominations for the 2026 Best Paper Award.

Scope

The Best Paper Award of the TC on Robot Control recognizes outstanding papers that advance the field of Robot Control through originality, technical depth, and impact. Nominations are open to TC members only. Not a member yet? [Join us here!]

Eligibility

Eligible papers must:

  • Be peer-reviewed
  • Fall within the scientific scope of the TC on Robot Control
  • Have been published in 2025
  • Appear in IEEE journals or IEEE conference proceedings

For journal papers, the electronic publication date will be considered. For conference papers, the date of the main conference presentation applies.

How to Apply

Nominations, including self-nominations, must be submitted by TC members. Self-nominations are encouraged, with a limit of two papers per research group (i.e., two papers with the same faculty author).

To nominate a paper, please:

  1. Complete the nomination form (link below)
  2. Upload a PDF of the nominated paper
  3. Provide a short summary (max 150 words) explaining why the paper deserves the award

The summary should clearly highlight:

  • originality of the contribution
  • technical quality and rigor
  • relevance to Robot Control
  • potential or demonstrated impact on the field

Restriction

Papers co-authored by TC Co-Chairs are not eligible for nomination. This restriction applies only to Co-Chairs and not to Associate Co-Chairs or Student Representatives. The policy is intended to avoid perceived conflicts of interest while ensuring that students are not disadvantaged.

Evaluation Policy

The TC Co-Chairs will perform an initial evaluation of the nominations and identify a shortlist of papers to be forwarded to external reviewers. These will then be evaluated by external reviewers selected for their expertise and absence of conflicts of interest, ensuring a fair and rigorous evaluation process.
